Washi Tape Picture Frame

Craft

Washi Tape Picture Frame

I was looking through the garage the other day trying to find something I could use to make a new craft with and came across some old picture frames.  I have tons of photo pictures up, but no signs with words.  So, I thought this would be great use for that.

Materials I used :

  • Picture frame (old or new)
  • Picture
  • Washi Tape
  • Scissors

First I started with the old picture frame I found in the garage.

Picture Frame

For the 4 x 6 picture I used Pic Monkey to create a sign.  I used a chalkboard background with white lettering.  This Scripture is from the book of Ruth in the Bible.  It is one of my favorite verses.  I had the picture printed at Walgrenes for 20 cents!

The sign just looks so blah.  Don’t get me wrong, I love simplistic things, but this is just too much black and white.

So, I thought I would use Washi Tape on the white matte.  I started with a flower pattern navy blue tape and wrapped it all around the matte.

Washi Tape

I used scissors to cut a small slit on the edges of the corners.  Washi Tape is so forgiving and easy to work with.

I wanted to use a contrasting color just to break up the bold pattern a bit, so I used a smaller diameter green Washi Tape.  I am definitely loving the navy blue and green combo.  Plus, with the washi tape being transparent you can still see some white poking through.

Honestly this craft project was a lot easier than what I thought it was going to be.  It probably took me less than 10 minutes to cover the frame matte.  The washi tape just adds so much more interest and character to this picture frame.

Now I have a reminder of how great our God really is!

Love how this turned out! Such an easy way to update the mat & I agree that it looked a little blah before. Sometimes you just need to add a little color to black and white!
