Thirty, Thriving and Thankful

Uncategorized

Can I say just how incredibly blessed I am. I had such a wonderful weekend celebrating my 30th birthday with my family.  They sure know how to make a girl feel loved.
My birthday weekend started off with a little something sweet. My husband knows me all too well. After work Friday he bought home some cupcakes from my favorite local bakery, Larry’s House of Cakes.  They have the best butter-cream frosting ever!  If you haven’t had Larry’s, you should check them out. Larry’s ships anywhere in the USA.

Saturday we left for a little weekend getaway to St. Louis.  It was our first road trip and overnight stay as a family of three.  My Mom, Dad, Sister and Brother-in-law drove separate. Mike and I were nervous how Ellie would do, but she was wonderfully for a two year old 🙂
First I got to go shopping at my two favorite stores:  Archiver’s and LOFT.  I was able to find some pretty amazing items at these stores.
Lets just say I could spend an entire day at Archiver’s and still not look at all the scrapbooking items in the store.  They have so many amazing products like paper, accessories and tools.  BUT I was able to buy 3 paper packs, a package of cork shapes, tags, chalk label stickers, pop dots, accessories and my new favorite item washi tape.  I can’t wait to dig in and see what I can create with them.  Oh, and I’m totally into the new line of FancyPantsDesigns.
Every time I walk into LOFT it’s like the pearly gates have opened, light shinning down and the angels are singing.  OK it’s safe to say I have an obsession, but it is a pretty awesome Women’s clothing store.  They had an amazing 40% off EVERYTHING sale this weekend and need less to say with sale and my gift card plus rewards points/birthday bonus I made out like a bandit.  I bought 2 dresses, 2 shirts, a necklace and a pair of earrings.  The clothes are stylish and figure friendly.  LOVE LOVE LOVE!

After shopping we went to the St. Louis Cardinal’s baseball game.  Baseball is about as American as you can get.  Peanuts and popcorn.  Beer and hot dogs.  The lights and the roar of the cheering fans.  The Cards has the BEST fans in the world.  We’ve been through a lot together.   I grew up a Cards fan and will die one too!  There was a slight rain delay at the start of the game and the Cards ended up losing to the Texas Rangers, but we still had a lot of fun.
While we were at Bush  Stadium Ellie went to Build A Bear Workshop and picked out her birthday present.  Of course it was a Clydesdale horse.  You can only buy the Clydesdale at the stadium.  Ellie got to step on the pedal which fills the animal with stuffing.  Then she picked out a satin heart, kissed it and placed it inside the Clydesdale before it got sown up.  She also picked out a ‘ I LOVE CARDINALS’ t-shirt and red bows for the horse to wear. I think she was a bit overwhelmed, but loved the experience.  Daddy was there to help.

Sunday we all got up and went to the Zoo.  It was so HOT and humid.  First we saw the Bears and Penguin exhibit.  Luckily we were able to cool off a bit while inside.  Then it was a train ride to Big Cat Country where we saw Lions, Tigers and Zebras.  We walked our way back and saw the Monkeys and Reptiles.  We ended by petting the Sting Rays.  I think we were at the zoo a total of 4 hours.  We had lots of fun seeing all the animals and riding the carousel and train.

The last stop on our trip was The Cheesecake Factory!!!  This is a dessert lover’s paradise. The food menu has about 20 pages full of mouth watering cocktails, appetizers and main dishes and a list of all the cheesecakes they make.  The food is always great and I celebrated with a piece of their famous cheesecake.  Which one did I choose???

As I look back at the pictures taken and memories made, I can’t help but to fill up with emotion. All the birthday cards and gifts received in the mail.  The best wishes on Facebook and text messages. The love of family and friends.  God has blessed me so much more than I deserve, but I’ll take it and say Thank YOU!
I am actually excited about my 30’s.  Hopefully I will be a better wife and mother, meet new friends and make new memories.  Starting this blog.  Setting new goals, reaching them and making new ones are just some of the things I’m looking forward to.

* I ended my 30th birthday with a 3 mile hot and sweaty run 🙂
