Rustic Christmas Star Card

Rustic Christmas Star Card

Oh my, it’s December already!  Which means Christmas will be here in a few weeks…eek!  One of the things I do for the Holidays is make handmade Christmas cards for family and friends.  This Rustic Christmas Star Card is very easy to make!

Materials:

  • White cardstock
  • Scrapbook paper
  • Embossing machine and folder
  • Cricut or downloaded a star template
  • White gel pen
  • Twine
  • Adhesive tape and foam squares
  • Corner rounder punch
  • Paper Cutter

First I started by making a basic 5.5 x 8.5 in card using white cardstock.  Then I ran the card through my Sizzix Texture Boutique embossing machine using the medium polka dots embossing folder by The Paper Studio.  I love the texture embossing gives to cards!

Using the Sizzix Texture Boutique embossing machine

Next I cut a 3 in star using my Cricut machine and the George and Basic Shapes Font Cartridge out of a piece of  brown scrapbook paper with white Christmas theme words.  I didn’t want to use the star itself, just the paper around it.  *You can always download a star template off the internet and print it out if you don’t have a Cricut.

To add some color and dimension to the card, I cut a piece of red scrapbook paper with white Merry Christmas words and taped it where the cut out star is using an adhesive tape runner. Then I used a corner round punch by Ek Success on all four corners of the brown scrapbook paper.

Then I went around the star on the brown paper with a Uni-Ball Signo broad white pen creating a stitched effect.  I got this technique from Kristina Werner.  She makes amazing cards and has YouTube videos of the cards she makes.  Please go check out her website HERE!

I tied a piece of red and white twine around the bottom of the card for extra embellishment.  The last thing I did was place the scrapbook paper onto the white cardstock using large foam squares.

I love how this card turned out!  Very simple and clean and it looks great! I will be giving this card to someone special this Christmas.

Love that card, wish I had a machine to cut that star out but guess I could cut it out with scissors. Just love the whole composition of the elements you put together. I’ll try to make it similar but will be making something to hang up or hang on the tree instead of card. Your card is just too great not to use your idea somehow. I’ll be saving your project and pinning.
    Happy holidays

JaneEllen, of course you can just print off a star template and trace and cut it out. I love that I have inspired you. You comment just made my week! Thanks so much for stopping by and the kind words. Have a wonderful day!
