Hello there!  We have had a few hot days already and it gives me the itch to get outside and do some gardening and planting plants.  Today, I am excited to share a new Outdoor Living Paint by DecoArt and I have created a fun Painted Geometric Wood Planter.  This colorful bamboo planter is an easy paint project that will bring vibrant color to your outdoor plants and space.

Americana Decor Outdoor Living Paint is brand new to the DecoArt family.  This is an exterior/interior paint that enhances your outdoor decor with a durable eggshell finish acrylic.  No sealer is required and this paint holds up against scuffs, fading, and resists water.  It’s the ideal paint for outdoor surfaces.  Look for the line of Outdoor Living Paint later in stores and online.

Supplies:  (affiliate links)

  • Americana Decor Outdoor Living 8oz – Succulent
  • Americana Decor Outdoor Living 8oz – Garden Party
  • Wood Bamboo Planter (I bought mine at IKEA)
  • Painters Tape
  • Foam Brushes

Instructions:

Painted Geometric Wood Planter - add pops of color and character to a plain wood planter by painting easy geometric shapes using outdoor paint.

Start by using painter’s tape to tape off sections of the wood planter box.  I made four different designs, one for each side of the box.  Just make straight lines for geometric shapes.  Since I am working with a brand new store-bought planter, no prep is needed.  If you are working with an older, used planter, you want to make sure the working surface is clean.

I started paining with the darker color first, Garden Party.  This paint is a very bright and beautiful raspberry color.  Make sure to shake the paint container really well before painting.  I applied a thin coat of paint to one of the taped off sections.  Let the paint dry, then lightly sand and add a second coat.  Sanding in between coats help make for a smooth paint surface.

I repeated the same steps using a second paint color, Succulent.  This is a very pretty and vibrant green color.  I love these two colors together.

After applying two coats of each of the paints, let the paint dry completely before removing the painter’s tape.

The only thing left to do is add a plant.  You can use real plants for outside or faux plants for inside.  Clean up is easy, just use soap and water.
