Homemade Taco Seasoning

Cook· Lunch· Main Dish

IMG_1522[1]

I have been making my own taco seasoning for a couple months now and let me just tell you it is way better than the store bought stuff.  Not only does it have less sodium, I know all the names of the ingredients I use to make the seasoning.  The seasoning just has a much better taste to it as well.

Here are the list of ingredients I use:

  • 4 Tablespoons Chili Powder
  • 1 Teaspoons Garlic Powder
  • 1 Teaspoons Onion Powder
  • 1 Teaspoons Crushed Red Pepper Flakes
  • 1 Teaspoons Dried Oregano
  • 1 Teaspoons Ginger
  • 2 Teaspoons Ground Cumin
  • 2 Teaspoons Paprika
  • 4 Teaspoons Black Pepper
  • 4 Teaspoons Sea Salt

Now here is the fun part.  I put all the ingredients into a ziplock bag and shake.  Make sure everything is well Incorporated.

I generally use about 3 Tablespoons of seasoning for every 1 pound of meat. You can use it on just about anything, beef, chicken, pork.  It does have a kick to it so you can add as much or little as you like.

Storing the seasoning in an air tight container will keep it lastly longer.
I use a glass container from Hobby Lobby.  Of course I decorated it with a ribbon and tag to make it cute!

[…] I just love this time of year because my husband pulls the grill out of the garage and fires it up.  We tend to grill almost every night of the week in the summer.  It’s faster, I don’t have to heat the oven and get the house hot, and the food just tastes so much better.  I will be using this paprika chili pepper salt on lots of cuts of meats this summer.  This seasoning salt is guaranteed to add tons of flavor and a mild heat to anything you put it on.  I also like to make homemade taco seasoning.
