Homemade Apple Chips

Homemade Apple Chips

I have been making these Homemade Apple chips for a couple years now.  They are a sweet and healthy after school snack or would make for a great Teacher’s Gift.

These apple chips are really easy to make and fills the whole house with the aroma of warm cinnamon and sugar spices.

You will need:

  • 2 to 3 apples ( I used 3 small red apples)
  • 1 tbs sugar
  • 1 tbs cinnamon
  • Apple corer
  • Mandoline slicer or a sharp knife
  • Baking sheets
  • Aluminuma foil
  • Cooking spray

Step 1.  Turn the oven 200 degrees

Step 2.  Core the apples

Step 3.  Slice the apples about 1/8 inch using a mandoline or knife.

Step 4.  Placed the sliced apples on the baking sheets that haven been lined with aluminum                foil and sprayed with cooking spray.

Step 5.  Mix the cinnamon and sugar together and sprinkle on top of the apple slices.

Step 6.  Place the two baking sheets on the very top and very bottom racks.  Allow the chips to                crisp and dry for approx. 2 hours.  Remove the chips from the oven and let dry.

*Place the chips in a air tight container.  They should keep for about 3 days.

This recipe make about 2 cups of chips depending on the size of the apples.

I used to make these all the time, but I completely forgot about them. Thanks for the reminder! My daughter will love them and they are a great way to use up all of the apples I wind up with in the fall.

Thanks Stephanie! These chips are easy to make. I live in apple orchard land so I have a ton of apples in the fall too!
