DIY Gold Spray Painted Cookie Tin

So, I don’t know about the rest of you but I’m totally in love with the gold trend going on right now.  It seems that gold is popping up everywhere these days.  I love that it is a metallic neutral that that goes with other colors and can stand strong on its own.  AND of course I LOVE easy and inexpensive DIY projects like this one!

Since Christmas is right around the corner, I’m sure you have already seen the cookie tins out in stores.  You know, the buttery Danish cookies that comes in the blue tin.  My mom recently bought a mini tin for my daughter.  It’s the first time I have seen a mini.  It’s super cute and a great container for Christmas cookies or gifts,

MATERIALS:

  • Metal cookie tin
  • Gold spray Paint
  • Newspaper
  • Embellishments

First I stared my stuffing newspaper inside the tin.  The inside is already gold, so no need to paint that.

Then I just sprayed the lid and the sides of the bottom container with Krylon Short Cuts Gold Metallic Paint.  Just do one even coat.  Let dry overnight.

I just added a piece of gold and white washi tape and a piece of gold twine to give the tin a little embellishment.  I will be giving the cute gold tin away with a Christmas present inside.

This was such an inexpensive way to give new life to the boring old cookie tin.

I had to check out your pretty version because I recently made one for my son. He is always losing his DS, so I sprayed a tin for him to keep it in. Your washi tape embellishment idea was the perfect way to take it up a notch…love it! ๐Ÿ™‚

What a great way to repurpose all those tins we see every year. You could probably even do it with popcorn tins for larger gifts! I absolutely love this idea. So glad for my stockpile of gold spray paint this year ๐Ÿ™‚

First of all, I love the name of your blog! Brilliant!

What a fantastic idea on the cookie tins. Every year I give my daughter’s teachers and instructors (swim teacher, gymnastics teacher, etc.) a tin of cookies around the holidays, and I struggle to find sophisticated holiday tins. Your project is the perfect solution!

Thanks, Aida! I have to give credit to my Husband for coming up with my blog name.
Isn’t amazing what a little spray paint can do?! Plus you can embellish the tin anyway you want.
Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
