Hello there!  Today, I am sharing a glimpse into my 1920 craftsman bungalow.  We recent did a Front Porch Mini Makeover using Americana Decor Curb Appeal Paint and updating the decor to a more modern design.  This mini makeover was so easy and very inexpensive.  I can’t believe the huge difference it was just by painting our front door.

This front porch refresh is just what our little house needed.  We have lived here 11 years and our house needs some updates.  Since it’s still winter, we decided that a mini makeover would be good for now.  We are planning on removing and replacing all the siding on the outside of this house if possible this year.

We started by removing and throwing away the broken screen door.  Then, we removed the steel front door from the hinges and laid it on a sheet.  We thoroughly cleaned the door and removed the knob to prepare for painting.  We applied two coats of Americana Decor Curb Appeal Paint in Nantucket Grey.  The new Curb Appeal Paint is thicker than most paints and it goes along way.  Even with the two coats we hardly used any paint.  Make sure to allow each coat of paint to dry completely before applying additional coats.  This paint does dry quickly.  I have to say that the Nantucket Grey definitely has a blue tint to it.  I would say it’s a cross between a deep navy and indigo blue.

Once the door was done, we put it back on the hinges.  We did paint the door and window frame and added white trim around the bottom.  The trim pieces cost around $10 and made a huge difference.  It looks more polished and modern now.

Now, comes the fun part, decorations!  Some of the decorations I had in my home already and others I bought.

  • Metal Carlisle Chair (Target)
  • Nate Berkus Pillow (Target)
  • Large Basket – Better Homes and Gardens (Walmart)
  • Metal Lantern (Jo-Ann – last year)
  • Plant and White Planter (IKEA)
  • Small Basket (Target – last year)
  • Boxwood Wreath (Target)
  • Rug (Pier 1)

I just bought this rug at Pier 1 and it was less than half price.  Hand lettering is super popular right now and I love the bold black script font and words of gratitude.

Here is a closeup of the trim around the bottom of the frame.  My husband was able to find already white painted pieces at the hardware store.  He cut and nailed the trim.  It looks so good!

I seriously can’t believe how great this Front Porch Mini Makeover turned out.  I hope this gives you inspiration to update your porch or front door.  I will keep you update on the new siding.
