Hello there!  Today, I am sharing a fun learning project for children.  This Foam Piggy Bank Learning Activity is a fun craft for parents and kids to make together and then explore the value of money.  Any time kids have fun while learning is always helpful and makes the lesson so much easier.

I was inspired by the Make It: Fun® Show Me The Money! learning center project to create a giant foam piggy bank.

Foam Piggy Bank Learning Activity is a fun DIY craft to teach children the importance of money and how to make correct change.

I started by cutting two 2 1/2 inch foam balls in half using a serrated foam knife.

Next, I used a combination of StyroGlue® and hot glue to secure the foam balls halves to the large 8 inch foam ball.  I glued the curved part of the balls for the piggy bank’s feet.

I painted the foam balls using a paint brush and acrylic paint.  I found that you really have to push the paint into the ball for full coverage.  Let the paint dry completely.

I cut two diamond shapes out of scrapbook paper for the ears.  I folded the diamond shapes in half.  I used the serrated foam knife to cut two small slits for the ears.  I placed the scrapbook paper inside the slits and used the StyroGlue®  to secure the ears in place.  I ended up painting the buttons because the white just didn’t look right.  I used a hot glue gun to glue the buttons and felt ball to the foam ball.  I cut the felt ball in half and used black acrylic paint to paint to tiny dots for the nose.  Finally, I cut a strip of scrapbook paper and glue wire inside the folded paper.  I used a pencil to curl the strip of paper for the tail.

Once the adorable Foam Piggy Bank Learning Activity is done, have your kids get creative with counting and sharing games.  Encourage kids to use the piggy bank while playing store.  This learning activity can be used for kids of several different age groups.

Have the kids count out coins for change and stick in the foam ball.  This Foam Piggy Bank Learning Activity is great for at home or a school project.  You can invent a variety of games to help give children a fun learning experience.
