Hello there! Today, I am excited to share a DIY Metallic Boho Basket tutorial using NEW Extreme Sheen paint. This paint comes in many different shiny colors and adds a nice pop to any DIY home decor project. I am loving the new basket trend and picked up this basket from Hobby Lobby. I thought I would add my own touch to it and paint bright pink for my daughter. Let’s get started!
Supplies:
- DecoArt® Extreme Sheen 2 oz – Pink Tourmaline
- Basket
- Yarn
- Paint Brush
- Scissors
All supplies can be purchased at Hobby Lobby.
Instructions:
Start by gathering your supplies. I am using Extreme Sheen paint in the color Pink Tourmaline. This new metallic paint is formulated to reflect more light, giving a shimmery look to the finished project. It’s bright, bold and oh so pretty.
I applied one thin coat of the Extreme Sheen to the wood basket using a 3/4″ paint brush which was perfect for this project. Once that coat was completely dry, I applied a second coat for full coverage. I left the handles and top rim of the basket raw just to show the natural wood. This was a personal choice but you can certainly paint the entire basket.
Next, I made giant fuzzy tassel and attached it to the handle of the basket. I love the fun and texture this element brings to this DIY decor tutorial. You can see how I made the tassel using this DIY Yarn Tassel Tutorial here.
I made this DIY Metallic Boho Basket for my daughter’s room. She can use the basket for laundry or housing her stuffed animals. We haven’t decided yet but what it is used for, it will be a pretty addition to her room.
