DIY Gift Bag with Card Pocket {FREE Printable Card}

Hello lovelies!  Today I am SO super excited to share with you this DIY Gift Bag with Card Pocket.  I mean how genius is this?!  This easy craft is a great way to customize a gift bag and display a beautiful handmade, store bought or FREE printable card.

How many of you have plan brown kraft bags laying around…no?  Well, what about bags you receive from purchasing an item at the store?  Tell me I’m not the only one who collects bags!  Anyway, this craft project is a great way to recycle those bags.

Material Used:

  • Bag
  • Scrapbook paper/ Cardstock
  • Vellum
  • Paper cutter
  • Scissors
  • Adhesive tape
  • Push Pins
  • Ribbon *optional
  • Paper punch *optional

First I started by cutting a piece of black cardstock.  I wanted to cover most of the brown bag but leave a little of it still showing.  Then I cut a piece of white cardstock slightly smaller than the black paper.  Using an adhesive tape runner, I adhered the white cardstock to the black then taped down the black cardstock to the bag.

Next I cut a piece of heart patterned scrapbook paper slightly smaller than the white cardstock.  *I waited to tape down the scrapbook paper until the very final step.

I took a piece of vellum and cut it the same width as the patterned scrapbook paper.  You want to fold the bottom of the vellum under so the card has a place to fit.  Then I used a scalloped paper punch on the top for some design.  To secure the clear vellum to the paper I used decorative push pins.  They were very easy to push through the vellum and paper.

The last thing I did was tie a piece of ribbon around the vellum and scrapbook paper taping it to the back.  Then I taped down the scrapbook paper to the cardstock.

I also made this cute Valentine’s Day card to fit in the pocket.  Hello cute paper straw easel!

Handmade Valentine's Day Card

Since I love you all SO much, I made a FREE printable Valentine’s Day card that you can download.  It’s very simple and sweet.  Perfect to fit inside your gift bag pocket!

Just PRINT then cut along the dotted lines and fold.  This is a standard size card for personal use only.
