DIY Floral Wrist Corsage – handmade silk flower and ribbon wrist corsage perfect for special events.
Hello there! Can you believe it’s almost May? Where did April go? With the summer months shortly upon us, I wanted to share a very simple and easy DIY Floral Wrist Corsage tutorial. This corsage can be worn for Mother’s Day, graduation, prom, school dances, and weddings. I love the idea of using a large artificial bloom and satin ribbon that will last for a very long time. It’s nice to have keepsakes from special events and this corsage is beautiful!
Supplies: (affilant links)
- Large floral bloom with stem (I used this Sweet Pink Fresh Picked Ranunculus Spray)
- Apple Green Polyseter Satin Ribbon
- Hot glue gun
- Rotary Cutter
- Scissors or wire cutters
- Large sewing needle
- Green yarn
- Lighter
Instructions:
Start by cutting the stem using heavy duty scissors or wire cutters as close to the bloom as possible, leaving a tiny piece of the stem. The stem may have wire in it, so be careful.
Next, thread a large sewing needle with green yarn, tying a knot at the end. Pierce the needle through the stem of the bloom.
Loop the needle and thread through the middle center of the ribbon and tie it off. I cut a 36 inch piece of ribbon. You want to make sure the ribbon will be long enough to tie a large bow.
To secure the bloom even more, I used a hot glue gun to glue the bloom to the ribbon. The bloom should be secure and won’t move around.
I trimmed the ribbon at an angle using a rotary cutter. To keep the edges from fraying, I used a lighter to quickly run the flame over the ends. The lighter only works on synthetic ribbon like polyester. It will burn natural ribbons.
Place the bloom on the center of your front of your wrist and tie the ribbon into a large bow. The nice thing about having a ribbon, is that you can adjust the size easily. I love this pink and green color combination!
