Chalkboard Tag

Craft· Handmade Gifts· Paper

Who doesn’t love getting a cute little present from someone?  I know I do, but I love giving presents to others even more!

I recently went to my local Jo Ann Fabrics store just to browse.  Who am I kidding?  I just don’t browse at the crafts store.  I usually leave with a few items that I can stash in my ‘craft room’.  Then try and figure out what to make with my purchases.

Well, I found some really cute chalkboard tag stickers and a chalk marker.  I thought I could make an easy tag for a gift.

Let me show you how I did it!

First I need just a few supplies:

  • Chalkboard tag sticker
  • Chalk marker
  • Pre made tag (or you can make your own from cardstock)
  • Ink
  • Twine

I found some pre made tags at Hobby Lobby awhile back (threw them in my stash) that had a hole already punched out. Of course you can make your own tag with cardstock and a paper punch.  Then I used my Tim Holtz Distress Ink pad and rubbed it around the edges of the tag.

After the ink has had a chance to dry, I placed the chalkboard tag sticker in the center of the inked pre made tag.  The I just wrote on the chalkboard sticker with a chalk marker.  If you have never used a chalk marker, you must!  They are amazing!

That’s it!  Supper Supper easy and it’s so cute!  All I did was tie some twine around a present.  You can make these chalkboard tags for any occasion.  Since school is starting soon, you can make one for you children’s new teacher.  Have fun!

IMG_1867[1]* Isn’t that bunting super cute in the background?  I made it with washi tape.  I am in love with it!!!

    Hi Katie,
Very cute project. I love the whole idea of the pre-cut chalk stickers that you put on the tag.
I have to buy that chalk marker…so neat. The present looks so pretty wrapped with the twine with the red box. And I love the Washi tape bunting in the background.
