Hello there!  I know I am kinda of sharing this project last minute before Easter, but sometimes the unexpected and unplanned crafts turn out the best, like these Blue and White Paper Napkin Eggs.  I have been pinning a lot of Easter inspiration and wanted to come up with a craft using eggs.  I’ve seen a lot of modern eggs with bright colors and crazy designs, but I wanted to bring back a classic look using paper napkins I bought at IKEA.  To me the pattern of the napkins looks like antique blue and white china and I love the vintage classic look.  By using craft eggs instead of real ones I can display them year after year and I’m all about reusing when I can.

Make sure you check out these 6 Easter Egg Craft Ideas that are easy to make!

I tried a couple of different ways to decoupage the paper napkins onto the eggs and through trial and error I found out that the best way is to cut out each individual piece.  By cutting small pieces of the pattern napkin, this will prevent bubbles and folds.

After cutting out pieces of the pattern napkin, you want to pull the layers of the napkin apart.  These specific napkins I used had three layers.  Save only the layer with the pattern on it.  Next, apply decoupage to the egg and place the cut-out napkin on top.  Then apply a layer of decoupage over the napkin and smooth out with your fingers.

You can arrange the napkin in any pattern that you like.  You could create an egg using only the flower cut-out or an egg with only the vines.  The creative process is totally up to you.

I have displayed my blue and white paper napkin eggs in a milk glass bowl filled with brown raffia.  Then the milk glass is sitting on a Currier & Ives plate with “The Old Grist Mill” design.  My mother had this plate at her house and I knew that it would be perfect for this project.

I am beyond thrilled at how these blue and white paper napkin eggs turned out.  I am so glad I decided to go ahead with this craft.  There’s still time to make some yourself.  Thanks for stopping by!
