Hello there!  In June we got a new wall mount TV and needed to replace are old TV stand because it was too low to the ground.  Instead of paying a lot of money for a TV stand, we decided to do an IKEA Dresser to TV Stand Transformation.  This dresser allows for plenty of storage and has a mid-century modern style.  We are absolutely thrilled at how it turned out!

Some friends of ours came over to our house for dinner recently and said our house was crafty.  I told them that we have to get crafty and DIY things in our home because we can’t afford the ‘real’ stuff.  This IKEA Dresser to TV Stand Transformation was easily completed by painting, adding new knobs, and making a shelf to house the TV receiver.  

I started by painting 4 drawers and body of the IKEA Tarva Solid Pine Dresser.  I used Americana Decor Satin Enamels Paint in pure white.  Since this dresser is raw wood, I painted several coats of the white paint.  If you use a darker color paint, you might not need as many coats.  I just love the bright white because it is clean and classic looking.

We stained the base and the legs of the dresser using Miniwax in dark walnut.  This is a super dark rich stain and I love how it breaks up the solid white.  With any stain you will get a different result due to the different grain in the wood.

These Gold Geometric Metal Knobs change the look of this dresser completely.  The knobs are modern and stylist and the gold really pops.

Finally we added a shelf, painted the inside, and filled in the holes.  To make the shelf we left out the top two drawers and used a furniture grade board purchased at the lumber yard.  It was cut to fit inside the dresser cabinet and notched around the center drawer supports.  I painted it the same color as the rest of the dresser.
