DIY Bookmarks using Project Life Journaling Cards

DIY Bookmarks Using Project Life Journaling Cards |www.thecasualcraftlete.com

I am a paper hoarder and love all things made of pretty paper.  One day when I was browsing the aisles of Target I came upon this pretty little paper pad.  I have never used any Project Life products before but I just had to have this album of journaling cards .  The cards have sat in my office awhile and I finally came up with the genius and very simply idea to turn the cards into bookmarks.  I am SO excited to share my DIY Bookmarks Using Project Life Journaling Cards with you today!

DIY Bookmarks Using Project Life Cards

If I am going to read a book it must be in my hand with real pages to turn.  Yes, call me old fashion but I just can’t buy into the whole books on an E- reader thing.  I just can’t do it.  Maybe it’s because my eyesight is going and I need big print but I’m a real book kinda girl.  So, I need bookmarks to hold my page for when I stop reading.  Why not have pretty bookmarks?!

Materials for making Project Life Bookmarks

MATERIALS:

  • 3 x 4 inch Project Life Journaling Cards
  • Hole Punch
  • Ribbon
  • Scissors

DIY Bookmarks Using Project Life Journaling Cards TheCasualCraftlete.comThis is just about the easiest and cutest diy craft ever!  All I did was punch a whole in the top middle of the cards then tied some ribbon through the whole and cut it with scissors.  I mean hello?  It really is that easy.  I love the different patterns and colors on the journaling cards.  I just picked a few colored ribbons that I thought would match and tied them in a couple different ways.

Now my books have cute bookmarks!  AND it took less than 5 minutes to make them!!

These bookmarks would be a great gift for readers of all ages!

What a cute idea for a bookmark. I have fond memories of making bookmarks growing up with a neighborhood friend and I still have one that we made over 30 years ago – her mom laminated them for us so it is still in good shape. This would be a great gift to stick in a book you give to someone. I am with you on the ereader thing – I like having an old fashioned book. I have a nook color and have not even used it in over 6 months. My son and I bought it to share and he hardly ever used it. I also love to go to the library.

These are super cute Katie! I think you’re right about enjoying a “real” book–I’ve had a Kindle for two years and I miss the feel of a chunky book!

What a creative way to use the project life cards! I feel like they always give you way more than you need to create the books so this would be really useful to anyone looking to use up their supplies. I’m stopping by from the DIY Sunday Showcase.

Saw your link on the DIY Sunday Showcase at Interior Frugalista.

Since the beginning of the year, I’ve been reading a lot of books. I usually just stick in any old piece of paper for a bookmark, but I like yours much better! I might have to start making a new bookmark for every book I read! :O)

I’m so thrilled you stopped by and commenting, LuAnn! I like these journaling cards because they are double sided and thicker than regular paper. Plus the paper is SO cute!
