DIY Ombre Painted Wooden Bead Necklace

Painted Wooden Bead Bracelet

Today I am sharing how to make these simple DIY Painted Wooden Bead Necklace and Bracelet.  Recently I made my daughter a bracelet to match her dress for Easter.  I just loved how it turned out and how simply sweet it looked.  Then, I got the idea to make myself and necklace to match.  It’s the perfect Mother’s Day gift!

Material Used:

  • Wooden beads
  • Paints
  • Paint brushes
  • Lollipop sticks
  • Ribbon
  • Scissors

How to make a painted wooden bracelet

For the bracelet  I started by adding rice to a container to hold the lollipop sticks in place.  Then, I placed the beads on the sticks.  I used three different size beads: 1 – 20 mm, 2 – 19 mm and 8 – 15 mm beads.  Of course how many beads you need will be determined on what size of bracelet you make.  For my necklace I used 3 – 20 mm and 2 – 19 mm beads.

Next, for the bracelet, I painted the largest bead in Vivid Violet, the two medium size beads in Purple Pizzazz and the eight small beads in Wild Orchid DecoArt Americana acrylic paints.  You might have to add a few coats of paint until the natural wood is completely covered.  I painted the necklace using three different color purple paints creating a ombre effect.  Then, just let the beads dry over night.  I threaded the beads onto a piece of white ribbon and tied a bow.  SO easy!

I also made a bag for the bracelet using a pre-made muslin bag, small triangle stamp and ink pads.

The smaller beads fit on the lollipop sticks with no problem. The larger size beads you might have to use tape to hold them in place. Thanks for stopping by, Jade 🙂
