How to make a Pretty Paper Flower Centerpiece

Craft· Home Decor· Paper

Learn How to make a Pretty Paper Flower Centerpiece with just a few easy steps and supplies.

Burlap Vase Holder with Paper Flowers

Today I am going to show you how to make a Pretty Paper Flower Centerpiece.  I used a pre-made burlap vase and added the paper flowers.  The flowers are very easy to make and you can use whatever kind of scrapbook paper you would like to for a theme.  This centerpiece would be great for weddings, party favors or baby and bridal showers.  Also, this would make for a lovely Mother’s Gift that mom can keep a lot longer than real flowers.

Steps in how to make a paper flowers

Materials:

  • Scrapbook paper
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Glue gun
  • Floral wire
  • Burlap vase
  1. First I cut my scrapbook paper sheets  into 6″ x 6″ pieces.  Then traced a spiral circle onto each piece of paper.
  2. Cut the spiral circle on the pencil markings.  Then trim off the end to make it circular.

How to make a paper flower

3.  Start with the outside and roll the paper.  Make sure to roll the start of the flower tight.

4.  Once you get to the base, let your flower loosen up a bit.  At the base use a glue gun to to glue down the flower.

5.  After the hot glue has dried gently poke through a piece of floral wire.

Just repeat until you have the amount of flowers you need.  I used three different shades of orange scrapbook paper to add some contrast.

Inside the vase I added a piece of foam and poked the wires through it.  I also added a gray and white chevron bow around the burlap vase.  I really like the orange and gray colors together.

What do you think?

    April 15, 2014 at 8:35 pm

Not sure which I love more, the burlap vase or the paper flowers. Both are very nice. A nice easy fairly quick and inexpensive project, my kinda things. I was told by a fabric clerk at our HL (Grand Junction, CO) that burlap is phasing out but sure keep seeing it used for so many wonderful projects and it’s affordable. At least the plain burlap is, the wonderful print burlap at Jo-Ann’s is not so cheap but for special project would be worth extra expense. Maybe get to use a 40% off coupon, making it not too bad. Have you seen new burlap prints at Jo-Ann’s? Do you have a Jo-Ann’s close to you? I feel very lucky to have HL, Michaels and Jo-Ann’s in G.J.
Love your burlap vase and paper flowers, makes me feel like Spring just looking at them. Happy Easter

I hope it’s not true about the burlap, JaneEllen! I adore burlap and do many crafts with it. I am so glad you like my centerpiece. I do have a Jo-Ann’s but have not checked out their burlap prints. I will have to now. Hope you have a Happy Easter!
