Ritz Cracker Pie

Cook· Dessert· Uncategorized

Ritz Cracker Pie

So, let’s talk dessert. This Ritz Cracker Pie is loaded with yummy flavors and packed with history. This was my Grandpa’s favorite pie. When I was younger I remember making this pie with my Grandma. This recipe is SO old, one of the ingredients was Dairy Whip!

I had no idea what Dairy Whip was, so I had to ask my mom. Apparently years before Cool Whip was invented you had to mix a dry powder with cream. Let’s just say how thankful I am for the updated times!

This Ritz Cracker Pie recipe is like pecan pie, but only better!

List of ingredients:

  • 25 Ritz Crackers
  • 3 egg whites
  • 1/2 cup pecans
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tub of cool whip

Crush the crackers with your hands into a large bowl. Then add the pecans, sugar, baking powder and vanilla. Beat the eggs whites until stiff and add to the bowl. Mix altogether. Pour the mixture into a greased 9″ pie pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 25-30 minutes. After the pie has cooled add 1 tub of cool whip to the top of the pie.

Step 1: Crush 25 Ritz crackers with your hands into a large mixing bowl. This was about one sleeve of crackers.

Step 2: Add 1/2 cup chopped pecans, 1 cup sugar, 1 tsp baking powder and 1 tsp vanilla into the large mixing bowl with the crackers.

Step 3: Using either a hand or stand mixer, beat 3 eggs on high until still peaks form.

Beating Egg Whites

Step 4: Carefully fold the egg whites into the dry ingredients. Be careful not to deflate. Then pour the mixture into a greased 9″ round pan pan.

Step 5: Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until a knife is clean when you insert it into the center of the pie.

Pecan Pie

Step 6: After the pie has cooled, add a whole tub of Cool Whip on top of the pie.

Serve with a hot cup of coffee or tea! Enjoy the sweet life with wonderful family and friends!

Amazing! This is the same as my grandmother’s recipe. I have NEVER seen it anywhere else before and most people haven’t heard of it either. Growing up in Georgia this is the pecan pie I grew up on, not that stuff with Karo syrup and a few pecans on top. Such lovely memories! I’m visiting from The 36th Avenue link party.

I remember the pie and recipe on the Ritz box (yes I’m that old). They had the crackers piled up like apple slices. I remember the powdery stuff that could be made into whipped topping. It was called Dream Whip (in Maryland) and they still sell it. My mom would make a neat cake frosting by mixing it with pudding mix. Fun memories!

Thanks for the history, Lydia. I didn’t know the recipe was in the box. My grandma’s was handwritten with dairy whip too! Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!

This looks amazing! I’ll bet the salty of the Ritz makes this so mouth-watering!!! Love that it’s passed down from your grandpa.
